Hello and a warm welcome to horseyshoe4u, we are a small business which offers unique bespoke personalized lucky horseshoes for that special occasion. We are based in a small town in the heart of Derbyshire. We are now able to offer our products online to customers in and out of Derbyshire with our Brand New Website. Dependant upon your beliefs or superstitions there are many reasons why a used horseshoe brings good luck in many different cultures, some believe it to be a sign of fertility others a talisman to keep away evil spirits, below are just a few:
The first legends recorded began with the Greeks, they believed that a horseshoe was lucky because it symbolized the crescent moon which was a symbol of fertility and prosperity.
It is said that in a Celtic household if a horseshoe is hung above a doorway, it will prevent unwanted otherworldly guests such as Celtic Faeries which are repelled by the iron which the horseshoe is made from.
Some say that witches were afraid of horses because they represent truth, loyalty and goodness, and so they rode broomsticks instead of horses. As a result horseshoes are seen as a charm that will ward away witches and evil spirits.
A more familiar recognition of the luck which a horseshoe brings is from the 10th Century and the story of Saint Dunstan who was asked by the devil to shoe his hooves. Upon realizing that it was the Devil, Saint Dunstan chained the Devil up and caused him great pain whilst shoeing him and would only take the shoes off and release the Devil if he promised never to enter a place where a horseshoe was hung above a doorway.
Horseshoes are a luck catcher when hung from the ribbons on the shoulders as the gap catches the luck, then it is stored in the centre of the shoe. If guests to the house enter and leave through the door at which the horseshoe is hung, then they will take some luck with them.
Some say that the luckiest horseshoes come from the hind feet of a Grey Mare.
Whatever your beliefs are, over the years the horseshoe has morphed into a symbol of good luck and prosperity. We are here to offer a piece of good luck with your chosen unique personalized touches as a keepsake for years to come, whether it be for a Wedding, Anniversary, Birth, Birthday, New Home, Graduation, Good Luck, Congratulations, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Valentines, Holiday Decoration or a personal gift......
